Job Requirements

  • Work hours and schedules will vary according to department and event needs and may include holidays, evenings and weekends
  • Must be available on-call to respond to HVAC alarms as needed
  • Attendance at large events may be required
  • Must possess a two-year degree or two years of experience in building conversion activities and mechanical repair
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Must have thorough knowledge of methods, practices, equipment and machinery used in public facility maintenance
  • Must have knowledge and ability to execute safety programs
  • Must have basic knowledge of business management practices and procedures
  • Must have considerable knowledge of plumbing, heating, ventilation, mechanical, electrical and building systems
  • Must have working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Must be able to operate forklift, scrubber, and standard tools and equipment
  • Must have ability to hire, supervise and train staff
  • Must have ability to develop budget recommendations and prepare records for event labor costs
  • Must be able to utilize standard building and administrative computer systems
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and establish priorities and prepare budgets
  • Must possess current, valid driver’s license
  • Boiler’s, HVAC or other skilled license or training is a plus
  • Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied schedules
  • Must be physically able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and over 100 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to maintain calm and composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to read, interpret documents and write reports
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously with users, lessees and the general public
  • Must be able to maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety protocols
  • Must be able to work safely in environments with moving mechanical parts, high places, toxic chemicals and outdoor conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Two-year degree or two years of experience in building conversion activities and mechanical repair
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Thorough knowledge of methods, practices, equipment and machinery used in setups, operation and teardowns of general public facility maintenance procedures
  • Knowledge and ability to execute safety programs
  • Basic knowledge of business management practices and procedures
  • Considerable knowledge of the operation of plumbing, heating, ventilation, and other mechanical, electrical and building systems
  • Working knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions
  • Ability to operate forklift, scrubber, and other standard tools and equipment
  • Ability to hire, supervise, train necessary staff
  • Ability to develop budget recommendations and prepare and maintain records relative to event labor costs
  • Ability to utilize standard computer systems for both building and administrative purposes
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, establish priorities, and prepare budgets

Job Duties

  • Responsible for oversight of all operational areas of facility including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, snow removal, and other systems for the facility
  • Hire, train, schedule, supervise, work with, and evaluate skilled and semi-skilled workers engaged in setup, operation, and tear down of event related equipment, maintenance, and custodial services
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance, and repairs on all building systems
  • Daily maintenance work includes carpentry, minor electrical, minor refrigeration, plumbing, painting, and other operations duties as necessary
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area
  • Manage inventory of equipment, custodial and event supplies
  • Establish and follow preventative maintenance plans
