Job Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of GED equivalency diploma
- basic janitorial and/or maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- must obtain a valid Florida driver’s license prior to hire
- ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- physical capability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor
- ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 50 pounds
- capability to endure exposure to noise, chemicals, unpleasant odors, and environmental substances
- ability to walk, stand, sit for prolonged periods
- ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, and perform repetitive hand movements
- ability to communicate orally and in writing
- ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations
Job Qualifications

- skill in the use and care of hand tools and maintenance equipment
Job Duties
- Performs unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks for park and recreation facilities and buildings
- operates electric and gasoline powered tools including string trimmers, edgers, chain saws, pumps, lawnmowers and hand held power tools
- assists maintenance and sprinkler mechanics with carpentry, painting, cement, fencing and irrigation work
- performs minor landscaping, gardening, and custodial duties
- cleans and disinfects restrooms and restocks supplies
- moves furniture and equipment for meeting and banquet set-up and take-down
- cleans spills and enforces rental agreements
- inspects facilities regularly and removes safety hazards, graffiti, and vandalism signs
- prepares documentation and reports on deficiencies, hazards, and incidents
- assists the public with facility information, rules, dispute resolution, and first-aid supplies
- performs related duties as assigned
