Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- ability to demonstrate reliable work habits
- ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- valid driver’s license and ability to maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record
- have and maintain acceptable background information including criminal conviction history
- must be able to pass and maintain at least a level one Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification
- ability to lift and move items weighing 50lbs or more
- ability to climb ladder
- ability to use machines and equipment used in custodial operations
- willingness and ability to work alternate shift schedules, irregular hours, extended shifts, weekends, evenings, holidays, stand-by rotation, and emergencies as required
- may be required to work evening and/or weekends to provide backup during absence of other custodial staff
Job Qualifications

- experience with industrial or janitorial firms and knowledge of custodial materials and methods (preferred)

Job Duties
- Performs janitorial duties
- cleans bathrooms, vacuums, and mops floors
- empties all recycle bins and trash
- cleans all surfaces
- cleans sinks and sink areas
- empties clay traps
- vacuums and scrubs stairs and other assigned areas
- disposes of trash, recycling, and compost
- cleans, dusts, and sweeps offices, locker rooms, restrooms, and breakroom
- cleans public computers, keyboards, and mouse devices as needed
- mops, vacuums, shampoos, steam cleans, waxes, and polishes floors and carpets
- performs light snow and ice removal as needed
- replaces light bulbs, batteries, and restocks restroom supplies
- sweeps interior and exterior building main entrances
- checks restrooms every 2 hours or more for cleanliness and restocking
- uses various tools and equipment for custodial and maintenance tasks
- performs minor maintenance and repairs on equipment
- replenishes and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies
- orders and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies
- restocks supplies as needed
- keeps buildings in good condition and working order
- reports building conditions indicating repair needs to supervisor
- takes safety precautions and uses required safety equipment
- reports all accidents and property damage
- performs related duties to meet city needs
- complies with all City and department policies
- participates in professional training and development
- adheres to attendance and workplace attire policies
- transports vehicles to support vehicle maintenance
- performs landscape lawn maintenance
- cleans up grounds around city buildings
- power washing
