Job Requirements
- Ability to complete basic facilities service training and obtain certification within probationary period
- Ability to perform custodial duties including heavy cleaning
- Ability to safely operate labor-saving devices and cleaning machines
- Ability to do heavy lifting and climb ladders to replace bulbs and filters
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Basic computer proficiency
Job Qualifications
- Standard high school diploma or GED or special diploma preferred
- Ability to complete basic facilities service training program and obtain certification
- Experience performing custodial work
- Ability to operate labor-saving cleaning equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and climb ladders
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
- Basic computer skills
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Minimum of two years experience as facilities serviceperson aide with Broward County Schools preferred
Job Duties
- Clean assigned areas such as cafeteria, restrooms, offices, gymnasium, halls, and outside areas according to custodial standards
- Empty trash containers and dispose of garbage properly
- Sweep, mop, brush, vacuum, strip, and wax floors and other surfaces
- Perform heavy lifting including moving garbage to dumpster
- Wash and sanitize restroom facilities and replenish supplies
- Replace light bulbs and clean fixtures
- Dust, wipe, wash, wax furniture and perform minor repairs as needed
- Operate heavy equipment for floor maintenance
- Move and transport school furniture and equipment
- Change air conditioning filters and clean vents
- Maintain custodial equipment and store safely
- Assist with receiving and storing supplies
- Report maintenance needs and call in work orders
- Practice and enforce safety procedures
- Complete projects with proper recording of time and materials
- Comply with equal employment and non-discrimination policies
- Participate in training programs
- Review job-related technical information
- Follow federal, state laws and school board policies
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
