Job Description

The City is seeking a dedicated and responsible Facilities Maintenance Support I to join its facilities management team. This role is essential in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness across multiple public buildings and grounds managed by the city. The City operates numerous facilities serving the community, requiring well-maintained and sanitary environments to ensure the safety and satisfaction of both the public and city employees.

Job Requirements

  • Currently authorized to work in the United States full-time
  • ability to answer basic questions courteously
  • valid Montana driver’s license or obtain within 30 days
  • pass pre-employment drug test and federal fingerprint-based criminal history background check
  • ability to read, write, and interpret written instructions
  • ability to complete simple math
  • physical ability to lift 5 to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally over 60 pounds
  • willingness to work indoors and outdoors
  • adherence to safety practices when handling chemicals and electrical equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to answer basic questions courteously
  • valid Montana driver’s license or obtain within 30 days

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • custodial experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Performs routine cleaning and sanitation duties
  • uses vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, polishers, and hand cleaning supplies
  • safely uses cleaning chemicals
  • removes waste material to dumpsters and recycling locations
  • removes snow and treats ice on sidewalks
  • waters plants inside and outside buildings
  • cleans break areas, offices, public and operational areas
  • cleans and maintains supplies in restrooms
  • performs janitorial materials inventory and notifies supervisor of low stocks
  • orders and receives janitorial supplies
  • observes and reports safety and security issues
  • responds courteously to public inquiries
  • maintains lighting and reports electrical issues
  • monitors building systems and calls maintenance staff
  • performs light mechanical repairs such as painting and replacing light bulbs
  • assists with office furniture moves and event setups
  • participates in security measures and emergency plans
  • replaces HVAC air filters and assists Building Maintenance Mechanics
  • sets up audio-visual equipment for events
  • performs other duties as assigned
