Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Travel as needed
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently
  • Ability to follow universal precautions and safety protocols
  • Ability to handle cleaning equipment and materials safely

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of standard housekeeping concepts, practices and procedures
  • Ability to perform physical medium work
  • Understanding of infection control, fire, safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work respectfully with residents and team members

Job Duties

  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas so that health standards are met
  • Clean floor surfaces, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners, shampooers and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
  • Empty trash receptacles and clean and maintain windows, walls, woodwork, and light fixtures
  • Recognize the need for housing maintenance or hazards and submit work order for repair
  • Follow universal precautions and strict procedures regarding cleaners, hazardous materials or objects, infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices
  • Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers
  • Observe precautions required to protect customer property, and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors
  • Sort, count and mark clothing and other articles, load washing machines, and iron and fold dried items and store them in linen closets
  • Perform various errands such as taking laundry to the cleaners, buying groceries and household supplies
  • Record expenditures as necessary
  • Prepare rooms for meetings, and arrange decorations, media equipment, and furniture for social or business functions
  • Understand, comply with, and promote all rules regarding residents’ rights
  • Promote independence, choice, and empowerment of individuals receiving services and treat individuals with dignity and respect
  • Maintain knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures regarding housekeeping
  • Perform other related duties and activities as required
