Job Duties
- Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas so that health standards are met
- cleans floor surfaces, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies using vacuum cleaners, shampooers and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
- empties trash receptacles and cleans and maintains windows, walls, woodwork, and light fixtures
- recognizes the need for housing maintenance or hazards and submits work order for repair
- follows universal precautions and strict procedures regarding cleaners or hazardous materials or objects and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices
- disinfects equipment and supplies using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers
- observes precautions required to protect customer property and reports damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors
- sorts, counts and marks clothing and other articles, loads washing machines, and irons and folds dried items and stores them in linen closets
- performs various errands such as taking laundry to the cleaners, buying groceries and household supplies
- records expenditures as necessary
- prepares rooms for meetings, and arranges decorations, media equipment, and furniture for social or business functions
- understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents’ rights
- promotes independence, choice, and empowerment of individuals receiving services and treats individuals with dignity and respect
- maintains knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures regarding housekeeping
- performs other related duties and activities as required
