Job Description

The Children's Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus is a vibrant and innovative institution committed to inspiring the wonder and joy of childhood through hands-on, kid-powered learning experiences. Situated on an expansive 8-plus acre campus including a 3-acre outdoor experience called Joy Park, the museum offers a rich variety of interactive exhibits, landscapes, and activities designed to engage children and families. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • All candidates subject to the Museum's pre-employment screening process
  • Ability to frequently move, transport and position equipment up to 60 pounds
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods
  • Ability to work with basic tools such as hand tools, landscaping tools, drills, ladders
  • Effective operation of a two-way radio for communication
  • Frequent communication with staff and the ability to exchange accurate information
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting or smelling
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience and familiarity with small machines such as mowers, blowers, string trimmers
  • Basic carpentry skills
  • Drywall repair and painting experience a plus
  • Understanding of landscaping and irrigation systems a plus
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, volunteers, and guests
  • Team-oriented and able to work with diverse backgrounds
  • Confident and motivated self-starter
  • Able to follow standard operating procedures and checklists with high accuracy
  • Spanish speaker is a plus

Job Duties

  • Tree and plant care and maintenance including watering and pruning
  • Hardscape installation and maintenance such as flagstone walkways
  • Weed pulling and spraying
  • Landscape material maintenance and replacement
  • Lawn mowing, trimming and edging
  • Support general cleaning of property on a daily basis
  • Support routine light and filter changes
  • Perform special projects including general repairs and daily maintenance
  • General painting and touch ups
  • Responsible for snow removal
  • Adhere to the Museum's safety policies and procedures
