Job Requirements
- Must have a minimum of 1000 hours Pilot in Command time including 400 hours rotary wing certified flight instructor time
- Capable of qualifying as flight instructor in various commercial single engine rotary wing aircraft
- Ability to qualify as Chief Flight Instructor for multi-engine rotary wing operations is a plus
- Experience with external load operations and FAA Part 133 Chief Pilot certification preferred
- Must hold a Secret security clearance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of commercial pilot certificate program
- Current Class II Medical Flight Physical
- Must demonstrate excellent knowledge of FAA regulatory requirements
- Ability to maintain instructor proficiency and currency
- Must supervise assigned certified flight instructors at KBFS Temple
- Must be able to administer flight training programs under FAA Part 141 and Part 61
- Must assist in administering the KBFS Safety Management System
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Graduate of commercial pilot certificate program (military or civilian)
- Holds a current Class II medical flight physical
- Minimum 10 years aviation experience with at least 5 years rotary wing experience
- At least 2 years as a certified flight instructor with a minimum of 400 flight instructor hours
- Turbine engine qualified
- Previous designation as Chief or Assistant Chief Instructor
- Excellent knowledge of FAA Parts 61, 91, 133, 135, 137, and 141
- Experience with Part 135 Chief Pilot role is desirable
Job Duties
- Conduct primary and advanced helicopter flight and ground training to prepare student and rated pilots for FAA certifications
- Perform initial and recurrent proficiency checks on flight instructors
- Supervise rotary wing scheduling, flight training, and evaluation activities
- Monitor assigned flight instructors' performance and ensure FAA regulatory compliance
- Serve as primary contact with FAA Flight Standardization District Office for all rotary wing operations and safety matters
- Develop and deliver tailored flight and classroom training sessions compliant with FAA standards
- Maintain training records and assist with FAA Training Course Outlines and curriculum updates
