Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year food service experience or completion of Culinary Arts Program
- ServSafe Certification or Food Handler’s Certification required
- Adequate communication skills
- Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers and agency personnel
- Orientation to detail, accuracy and meeting deadlines
- Good judgment and discretion
- Ability to represent Food Bank professionally
- Possession of current Texas driver’s license, liability insurance and clean driving record
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends and late evenings
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen

Job Duties
- Assist with preparing meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for Haven residents and satellite services according to meal requirements
- Pack, load and transport community meals to partners throughout the greater San Antonio area
- Adhere to planned menu to conserve food costs
- Ensure all kitchen equipment, tools, work tables and environment are clean and sanitary following Department of Health standards
- Maintain clean, safe and organized work environment
- Maintain regular inventory control of product lines, placing orders and supervising check-in
- Pull inventory as needed using FIFO methods and proper equipment use
- Ensure refrigerated equipment is properly logged and monitored, reporting deficiencies
- Instruct, supervise and engage trainees and volunteers when delegated
- Assist with preparing catering event meals as needed
- Adhere to all SAFB policies
- Maintain program files including production records and sanitation logs
- Comply with instructions from senior staff including Sous Chef and Executive Chef
