Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an approved Sports or Exercise Science major
- Minimum 6 months relevant work experience
- Current BLS Basic Life Skills Certification
- AED Training required within 90 days of hire
- ACLS certification required within 12 months of employment
- Ability to make independent judgement decisions
- Good physical stamina and able to be on feet most of the day
- Ability to work long hours including weekends
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an approved Sports or Exercise Science major
- Medical fitness or cardiac rehab certifications are a plus (e.g., ACSM CEP, NSCA CSCS, NASM CPT, AACVPR CCRP)
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- ACLS certification within 12 months of employment
- Able to make independent judgement decisions
- Possess high accuracy in executing fitness prescriptions and reporting
- Communicate effectively using appropriate industry vocabulary
- Ability to operate various fitness tools and equipment
- Knowledge of cardiac pulmonary medicine theory under AARC and ACSM guidelines
Job Duties
- Develop personalized exercise prescriptions to increase physical fitness, strength, endurance, flexibility, and performance
- Decipher contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise and respond appropriately including exercise cessation and referral
- Assist exercise physiologists/respiratory therapists with fitness assessment for clients/patients
- Perform duties related to cardiovascular and pulmonary rehab, cardiopulmonary lab, and medical fitness
- Plan and teach exercise therapy for patients using test data, patient status, and medication regimen
- Monitor patient responses and revise plans accordingly
- Provide exercise information for patients, peers, and community including public speaking and education classes
- Teach patients proper exercise techniques
- Develop flexibility, muscular endurance, and sports-specific programs
- Evaluate muscle function using resistance devices and specialized assessment equipment
- Assist in contacting and converting potential members interested in facilities offerings using member management software
- Implement medical fitness programs including education and exercise training delivery
- Evaluate referred patients independently to qualify them for cardiac rehab program participation
- Supervise rehabilitation programming to ensure appropriate performance for secondary prevention
- Establish individualized treatment plans based on patient assessment, exercise, behavioral goals, and treatment plans
