Job Requirements
- Associates degree in culinary arts or food service management from four-year college, university or trade school or four years related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Senior living or healthcare experience preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and kitchen operations
- Ability to train and mentor kitchen staff
- Physical ability to perform kitchen duties
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments
Job Qualifications
- Associates degree in Culinary Arts or Food Service Management or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Four years related experience and or training as Sous Chef, Baker, Kitchen Manager or in large scale catering production
- Senior Living or Healthcare experience preferred
- Fine dining experience a plus
Job Duties
- Work with the Executive Chef and Director of Dining Services to develop and execute menus and recipe or menu changes in conjunction with the Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Manager
- Provide guidance and training to team members including line cooking, food preparation, plate presentation and service
- Oversee and organize kitchen stock and ingredients ensuring a first-in, first-out rotation system and proper dating for quality assurance
- Keep cooking stations stocked, use batch cooking methods with documented time and temperature logs
- Hire and train new kitchen team members to ensure compliance with local and state regulations and ensure proper coverage of all kitchen positions
- Assist Executive Chef and Director of Dining manage food and product ordering by keeping detailed records, minimize waste and work with systems to improve waste reduction and manage budget concerns
- Safeguard all food preparation team members ensuring safety, sanitation and accident prevention principles are followed
- Assist with interviewing, selecting, training, supervising, counseling and disciplining kitchen team members
