Job Requirements

  • Four or more years of kitchen experience in high volume restaurant or hotel restaurant operation
  • At least one sous chef position experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must obtain Food Handler’s Certificate within 30 days of hire
  • Must obtain ServSafe certification within 30 days if not certified
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong customer satisfaction focus
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Valid drivers license or ability to obtain one

Job Duties

  • Supervise the preparation and presentation of all food items, ensuring all are prepared and presented to Ascent Hospitality standards of excellence
  • Manage the culinary staff to retain and motivate employees
  • hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach, and counsel staff
  • conduct performance and salary reviews
  • resolve problems
  • provide open communications
  • recommend discipline and termination as appropriate in coordination with the Food and Beverage Director
  • Maintain sanitation standards in accordance with brand standards and federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ensure all equipment is well maintained and functional
  • Control food cost by inventory control, wise purchasing, proper pricing, accurate portioning, and waste limitation
  • Monitor inventory for proper stock rotation to avoid spoilage and ensure reusable items are returned to stock
  • Schedule kitchen employees per staffing guidelines and weekly forecasts
  • Practice safety standards and report unsafe conditions
  • Review financial transactions and monitor budget to ensure efficient operation and maintain expenditures within budget in coordination with Food and Beverage Director and Hotel General Manager
