Job Requirements

  • Two plus years of post high school education
  • Five plus years of employment in a related position
  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing plans, security, safety programs, personnel and labor relations, business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences

Job Qualifications

  • Two plus years of post high school education, culinary education is desirable
  • Five plus years of employment in a related position
  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices including management of people and complex problems
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing, security, personnel relations, business planning, maintenance, budgeting and hospitality law
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and develop staff
  • Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communication style

Job Duties

  • Manage the daily production, preparation and presentation of all food for the hotel's restaurants and room service to ensure quality and consistency
  • Manage human resources in the kitchen including hiring, training, scheduling, performance reviews, coaching, and discipline
  • Schedule and oversee maintenance and sanitation of kitchen equipment and areas to meet safety and hygiene standards
  • Monitor, analyze and control labor and food costs, preparing reports, charts and schedules to meet budget targets
  • Promote the Accident Prevention Program to minimize workplace liabilities and expenses
  • Manage shipping and receiving of all food products
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
