Job Requirements

  • Lift and/or move up to approximately 50 pounds frequently
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling required frequently
  • Routine standing for the duration of the shift
  • Safely maneuver equipment such as hand cart, blenders, knives, slicers, wine keys and other kitchen tools
  • Scheduled shifts determined by business needs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a culinary or food service environment
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of current food trends
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members
  • Basic understanding of financial metrics in a kitchen setting

Job Duties

  • Develop and promote a nurturing learning environment for restaurant team members focusing on cooking techniques, knife skills, time management and accountability
  • Maintain appropriate staff levels based on projected sales and business needs
  • Cultivate open and authentic dialogue with the restaurant team, senior team and home office partners
  • Practice proactive performance management in partnership with General Manager and HR to ensure adherence to employment policies and procedures
  • Stay up-to-date with current food trends through research and vendor partnerships
  • Assist Executive Chef with specials and menu development
  • Minimize employee turnover by hiring qualified people, effective orientation, setting performance expectations, training, coaching and providing feedback
  • Facilitate implementation of company learning and training programs and monitor performance to ensure skills transfer
  • Achieve or exceed kitchen financial expectations including food cost, food efficiencies, labor costs and direct kitchen expenses
