Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 years experience in culinary or food and beverage industry
  • Or 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related major
  • Minimum 4 years relevant professional experience
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple kitchen operations
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards
  • Ability to develop and implement operational goals and budgets
  • Experience in staff supervision and training
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service
  • Must be able to work full time at Marriott St. Louis Grand, Saint Louis, Missouri
  • Willingness to relocate as relocation assistance is available

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 6 years experience in culinary or food and beverage
  • or 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related field with 4 years experience
  • Experience leading kitchen operations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and control expenses
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Experience in menu development and food presentation
  • Proven leadership and team-building abilities
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop staff
  • Skilled in problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Experience handling guest feedback and delivering excellent customer service
  • Familiarity with performance appraisal and employee discipline procedures

Job Duties

  • Provides direction for all day-to-day kitchen operations
  • Performs employee duties in absence and arranges appropriate replacements
  • Sets performance standards and monitors employee performance
  • Leads and encourages team members by example, fostering mutual trust and respect
  • Reviews staffing levels to meet guest service and financial objectives
  • Solicits employee feedback and addresses concerns
  • Supervises cooks and food preparation workers and demonstrates new cooking techniques
  • Develops and implements purchasing and receiving guidelines
  • Establishes performance, budget, and team goals
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures and monitors process compliance
  • Manages controllable expenses including food cost and equipment
  • Participates in budgeting for department
  • Oversees menu development and monitors food quality and presentation
  • Ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards and maintains certifications
  • Prepares and cooks foods for guests and special functions
  • Provides exceptional customer service by coaching and supporting staff
  • Handles guest feedback and resolves complaints
  • Empowers employees with training and service guidelines
  • Reviews guest satisfaction data to improve services
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops team members
  • Administers performance appraisals and employee discipline
  • Collaborates with Banquet Chef and Catering on training
  • Provides feedback on service behaviors
  • Ensures fair and consistent employee treatment
  • Manages communication across teams
  • Analyzes problems and implements solutions
