Job Requirements

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
  • 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience
  • or 4-year college degree and 1 to 2 years of related experience
  • or Culinary Degree with 1 to 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • proficiency in Windows operating systems
  • supervisory experience required
  • ability to work a flexible schedule
  • ability to convey information clearly
  • ability to evaluate and select among alternatives quickly and accurately
  • ability to work well under stress
  • effective at workplace problem handling including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems
  • effective listening, understanding, and clarifying issues for co-workers and guests
  • ability to work with financial data and basic arithmetic
  • ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure

Job Duties

  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • supervise hotel kitchens and ensure all kitchen personnel fulfill their job functions
  • create menus and food presentation
  • address and resolve customer problems efficiently
  • perform spot checks for menu accuracy and taste
  • minimize spoilage, waste and over production
  • monitor banquet and catering activity
  • maintain kitchen inventories
  • prepare annual employee reviews
  • assist in achieving departmental objectives
  • expedite peak meal periods with a hands-on approach
  • work within food cost budgets and control waste
  • assure timely set up and schedule trained cooks
  • maintain cleanliness, sanitation and safety in kitchen and work areas
  • review food sales for accuracy and oversee food display merchandising
