Job Requirements

  • Able to work legally in the US without sponsorship
  • physically capable of standing for four hours at a time
  • able to lift and move items weighing up to 60 pounds
  • experience supervising food service staff preferred
  • culinary degree preferred
  • two years of supervisory experience in food service preferred
  • mission-minded and aligned with Christian values of Moody Bible Institute

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • certificate in Food Service Sanitation (ServSafe) within six months of hire
  • three years of high volume food prep and cooking experience in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • superior organizational skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • knowledge of Chicago Health Department sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Educate and develop nutritional values, adapting meals to guest needs
  • train, schedule, and supervise full-time cooks and part-time student prep cooks
  • develop the PTS KC Supervisor through weekly one-on-one meetings and daily staff interaction
  • delegate duties, assign specific tasks, and ensure all action stations are covered
  • train staff on proper operation of equipment and action stations
  • maintain proper communication and morale among kitchen staff and management
  • oversee cold and hot food production
  • ensure proper preparation, service, distribution, and cleanup of food for Catering, Commons, and SDR venues
  • maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety according to health standards
  • ensure staff uniforms are clean and towels are available
  • manage proper food quantity preparation for serving lines and action stations
  • assist in developing and evaluating new menu products
  • stay updated on menu trends and collaborate with chefs
  • support catering service execution
  • perform additional duties as required
