Job Requirements

  • Minimum one year hospitality experience
  • Experience in catering sales
  • Experience at a hotel of similar size and quality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of hotel operations and market
  • Ability to work under deadlines
  • Effective communication skills
  • Must comply with attendance and punctuality standards

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in hospitality with catering sales
  • At least one year in the hospitality industry
  • Experience in similar size and quality hotel
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi
  • Knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, and peer motivation
  • Understanding of hotel features, benefits, and competitive market
  • Ability to implement action plans
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, marketing, safety programs, personnel relations, business planning, maintenance, budgeting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Adapt communication style to different audiences

Job Duties

  • Understand monthly forecasting and annual budget process
  • Raise meeting planner evaluation scores and ensure exceeding planner satisfaction
  • Optimize room rental charges
  • Participate in re-booking of repeat business
  • Actively participate in industry organizations such as NACE and MPI
  • Utilize strong sales techniques including closing and negotiating skills
  • Conduct hotel site inspections and client presentations
  • Develop creative event setups and menus in cooperation with culinary staff
  • Coordinate with banquet department on operations and event execution
  • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate operations and banquet event orders
  • Manage Audio/Visual equipment and operation as a profit center
  • Use computer skills including Delphi, Word, and Excel proficiently
  • Monitor group room blocks and pick-up
  • Work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction
  • Comply with attendance rules
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
