Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years hospitality industry experience
  • experience in catering sales
  • working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • ability to use Marriott CI system
  • availability to work regular hours
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to collaborate with multiple departments
  • capacity to manage multiple tasks under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in hospitality with specific catering sales experience
  • minimum 2 years industry experience
  • experience at similar size and quality hotel
  • proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Marriott CI system
  • knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training and motivation
  • understanding of hotel features, benefits, and market competitors
  • ability to implement action plans effectively
  • knowledge of hotel operations including marketing, safety, labor relations, business planning, maintenance, budgeting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-term planning
  • ability to work effectively under deadlines
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • adaptable communication style for different audiences

Job Duties

  • Optimize room rental charges
  • consistently participate in the re-booking of repeat business by having a track record of long-term client relationships
  • demonstrate thorough knowledge of sales techniques including strong closing and negotiating skills
  • conduct hotel site inspections and client presentations
  • collaborate closely with hotel departments on operations and event execution
  • monitor group room blocks and pick up, generating detailed resumes for operating departments
  • solicit new and existing accounts through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication
  • maximize revenue by selling all hotel facets including guest room revenue, F&B, room rental, A/V and other opportunities
  • comply with attendance rules and be regularly available
  • perform other job-related duties as assigned
  • work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events and groups
