Job Requirements

  • minimum one to three years full service hotel experience in sales and or catering department
  • local market knowledge preferred
  • high school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • experience managing to brand standards
  • able to collaborate effectively with other hotel employees and managers to ensure teamwork
  • exposure or previous coordination of hotel sales contract laws
  • proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, Delphi and or Opera
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • strong negotiation skills
  • ability to travel
  • ability to work a flexible schedule when needed due to business volume or group needs.

Job Duties

  • participates in developing and implementing business strategies for the hotel
  • develops and implements strategies for achieving individual sales goals
  • works with assistant director of sales on market share and revenue goals
  • prepares proposals and contracts to maximize profit and satisfy client needs
  • responds to requests for proposals in alignment with brand standards
  • communicates clients' requests timely to all departments via group resumes and banquet event orders
  • solicits new business through outside sales calls, prospecting, hotel tours and hosting clients
  • delivers and sells hotel features and benefits to meet clients' needs
  • contacts in-house customers to retain and grow existing business and referrals
  • reviews individual goals weekly and takes action to achieve objectives
  • ensures maximum occupancy by following up on group bookings
  • ensures all materials used meet brand standards
  • represents hotel at trade shows and customer events within company expectations
  • maintains proper flow of information to the sales team and reviews sales work files
  • assists with monthly booking reports
  • prepares reports and forecasts for management decision making
  • provides genuine hospitality and exceeds guest expectations
  • gives personal attention and uses teamwork in guest service
  • listens empathetically and resolves guest problems
  • demonstrates 'Yes I Can!' hospitality and teamwork
  • assumes responsibility to notice and address guest dissatisfaction
  • performs other duties as required to provide guest satisfaction and genuine hospitality
  • handles sales initiatives, manages RFPs, details BEOs, generates new leads, negotiates and accommodates client requests
  • conducts market research and analysis for business solicitation and client loyalty
  • services booked events as point of contact between guests, sales, catering, and operations post-booking.
