Job Requirements

  • Hospitality industry experience of one year or more
  • Experience in catering sales is essential
  • Familiarity with hotel size and quality similar to Sheraton Orlando
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi
  • Strong knowledge of sales techniques, revenue management, and peer motivation
  • Understanding of hotel market features and competitors
  • Ability to develop and implement effective action plans
  • Understanding of hotel operations and legal requirements
  • Capability to handle deadlines and stressful situations
  • Excellent communication skills adapted to various audiences

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in hospitality with specific catering sales experience
  • At least one year within the hospitality industry
  • Experience at a similar size and quality hotel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi
  • Knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation
  • Understanding of hotel features and market competition
  • Ability to execute appropriate action plans
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing, safety programs, labor relations, business plans, maintenance, budgeting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with adaptability

Job Duties

  • Understand both monthly forecasting and the annual budget process
  • Raise meeting planner evaluation scores and implement methods to exceed satisfaction
  • Optimize room rental charges
  • Participate in re-booking repeat business through long-term client relationships
  • Actively participate in industry organizations such as NACE and MPI
  • Conduct hotel site inspections and client presentations
  • Coordinate with banquet department on operations and event execution
  • Generate creative and innovative menus working closely with chefs
  • Evaluate alternatives quickly and decide on a plan of action
  • Ensure detailed execution of banquet event orders
  • Provide audio/visual equipment service and manage it as a profit center
  • Monitor group room blocks and generate detailed resumes for operating departments
  • Work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for events
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
