Job Requirements
- Ability to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays with on-call capacity to cover special events
- Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle or demonstrate capacity to meet transportation needs of the job
Job Qualifications
- Four years of specialized experience in food service, hospitality, grounds, maintenance, or a related field
- Associate degree may substitute for two years of specialized experience
- Bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience
- Experience as a prep cook, cook, catering/banquets
- Experience performing sensitive tasks discretely and confidentially
- Communication and leadership skills
Job Duties
- Assist Executive Chefs with preparing and executing meals
- Develop, select, and modify recipes to meet high quality standards
- Oversee, assign, and prepare a variety of meals, dishes, snacks, and hors d'oeuvres
- Design, prepare, and decorate foods and artistic arrangements for formal functions
- Oversee and assist with serving meals and refreshments
- Report needed maintenance or faulty equipment to Executive Chef
- Assist Executive Chef in ordering and receiving of all food and supply orders
- Ensure compliance with nutrition and sanitation regulations as well as safety standards
- Maintain a working knowledge of current cooking trends and best practices
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, refrigerators, and storerooms
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed
- Wash, stack, sort, and store dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookware while maintaining a clean kitchen and keeping dish area organized and free of clutter
