Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience
  • Certification in food safety and allergen awareness
  • Proven expertise in production requirements, human resources, and fiscal management
  • Experience in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff
  • Experience in budget development and operational management
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning experience
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must be intuitive, flexible, and available to address needs as they arise
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Proven teamwork and collaboration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and dining management systems
  • Knowledge of residential and retail food service in higher education
  • Valid driver's license

Job Qualifications

  • Certification in ServSafe or similar culinary food safety programs
  • Proven expertise in production, human resources, and fiscal management
  • Experience in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff
  • Strong leadership in vision development and strategic planning
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and commitment to customer service
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CBORD or similar dining management systems, recipe software, inventory, timekeeping, and catering software
  • Knowledge of college or university residential and retail food service operations
  • Valid driver's license
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven teamwork and collaboration ability

Job Duties

  • Oversee Swarthmore Dining operations including residential dining, catering, retail outlets, bakeries, and student programs
  • Ensure compliance with nutritional, health, sanitation, and safety standards
  • Utilize dining software systems to support operations and enhance customer service
  • Promote sustainable dining practices and respond to special dietary requests
  • Develop and implement strategic operational, marketing, and financial plans
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate dining staff and student employees
  • Oversee major dining events and catering logistics
  • Optimize kitchen layouts and workflow for efficiency
  • Develop programs that engage students, faculty, and staff to enhance dining experience
  • Manage budget development, fiscal stewardship, and resource allocation
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable work environment
  • Establish and maintain communication and collaboration with campus and external partners
