Job Requirements

  • An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • a minimum of ten years of experience in the field related to the title of the position
  • computer skills as required for the position

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • minimum of ten years of experience in a related field
  • computer skills as required for the position
  • knowledge of USDA nutritional guidelines
  • experience in managing multi-facility food service operations
  • supervisory experience
  • understanding of federal and state regulations related to school nutrition programs
  • excellent leadership and communication skills
  • preferred degree majors in nutrition, administrative dietetics, or institutional food management
  • bilingual skills preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise staff as assigned in the performance of job duties
  • plan, organize, and administer the functions of the Food & Nutrition Services Department
  • develop and implement a system to provide for the control, administration, supervision, and operation of a cost-effective food service program
  • develop and revise job descriptions
  • provide leadership and direction to Food & Nutrition Services staff including selection, development, evaluation, and corrective action
  • develop and implement a USDA compliant menu system
  • oversee utilization of USDA meal programs and required reports
  • implement and assure compliance with federal and state guidelines for free and reduced meal benefits program
  • develop an annual budget reflecting required funding for meals, food items, supplies, operating expenses, salaries, and equipment
  • approve expenditures
  • direct payroll and timekeeping administration
  • establish and implement purchasing systems and bidding specifications
  • develop systems to maintain health and safety standards for facilities and equipment
  • evaluate school food service facilities and recommend improvements
  • identify and recommend new technology for operational improvement
