Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • five years of supervisory experience
  • knowledge of food service operations
  • ability to manage budgets and control costs
  • excellent communication skills
  • proficiency in developing and conducting staff training
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
  • capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and healthcare professionals

Job Qualifications

  • Five years supervisory experience
  • food service experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living industry preferred
  • ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • ability to develop, monitor, and adjust a budget

Job Duties

  • Performs all responsibilities consistent with the community's operating and service philosophy
  • maintains a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
  • monitors key measurable indicators of daily operations routinely
  • implements established policies, procedures and standards of performance
  • helps develop and conduct in-service and ongoing staff training
  • participates in departmental and community meetings and projects
  • maintains confidentiality
  • ensures compliance with local, state, federal, and accrediting standards
  • administers, plans and directs food service department activities
  • controls costs and manages departmental budget
  • implements policies and administrative direction for menu formulation, food preparation, purchasing, sanitation, safety and personnel utilization
  • selects, orients and coaches kitchen staff and develops departmental educational programs
  • schedules kitchen personnel to optimize quality service and profitability
  • ensures maintenance and cleanliness of equipment
  • monitors food purchasing and inventory
  • coordinates interdepartmental activities and consults management on food service matters
  • supervises food preparation and service workers
  • consults with healthcare personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions
  • formulates menus for special diets
  • inspects meals for conformity and appearance
  • consults with Executive Director to ensure compliance with nutritional and regulatory standards
  • establishes kitchen staffing schedules and monitors staffing
  • responds to special resident needs
  • emphasizes safe food handling practices
  • collaborates with Dining Room Manager to meet SRG standards
  • works with corporate Food & Beverage team for compliance
  • promotes and supports the Genuine Hospitality Program
