Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years supervisory experience in food service
  • Knowledge of food service operations and safety regulations
  • Experience in budget management
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Capability to respond to and meet residents' special dietary needs

Job Qualifications

  • Five years supervisory experience required
  • Food service experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living industry preferred
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to develop, monitor, and adjust a budget

Job Duties

  • Performs all responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the community's operating and service philosophy
  • Maintains a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
  • Monitors key measurable indicators of daily food service operations
  • Implements established policies and procedures and standards of performance
  • Helps develop in-service training and ongoing education of staff
  • Participates in departmental and community meetings and projects
  • Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with local, state, federal, regulatory, and accrediting standards
  • Administers, plans, and directs activities of the food service department providing quality food service
  • Controls costs and manages food service department budget
  • Provides administrative direction for menu formulation, food preparation, purchasing, sanitation, safety, and personnel utilization
  • Selects, orients, and coaches kitchen staff and develops departmental educational programs
  • Schedules kitchen food service personnel to optimize service and profitability
  • Ensures proper maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment
  • Monitors and evaluates food purchasing and inventory
  • Coordinates interdepartmental professional activities and serves as consultant on food service matters
  • Supervises workers engaged in food preparation and service
  • Consults with physicians and dietary specialists on nutritional needs and diet restrictions
  • Formulates menus for special diets based on resident medical conditions
  • Inspects meals for conformance to prescribed diets and standards of palatability and appearance
  • Consults with Executive Director to ensure menus and policies conform to nutritional standards, government regulations, and organizational procedures
  • Establishes kitchen staffing schedules and monitors staffing
  • Responds to special resident needs
  • Emphasizes safe food handling practices
  • Works closely with Dining Room Manager and corporate F&B team to ensure compliance and service standards
  • Promotes and supports Genuine Hospitality Program
