Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in kitchen management or as a chef
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to handle the demands of a commercial kitchen environment

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an executive chef or in a similar culinary leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety and sanitation standards
  • Experience in budget management, including food and labor cost controls
  • Ability to develop menus and recipes that meet diverse dietary needs
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional culinary training preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan daily menus for community and special events
  • Schedule and coordinate the work of chefs, cooks, and other kitchen employees to ensure food preparation is economical and technically correct within budgeted labor cost goals
  • Ensure high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are maintained throughout all kitchen areas
  • Implement training for food preparation employees on safety, sanitation, and accident prevention
  • Develop standard recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation to assure consistent high quality and minimize food costs
  • Exercise portion control and assist in establishing menu selling prices
  • Ensure proper staffing for maximum productivity and high quality standards
  • Control food and payroll costs to achieve maximum profitability
  • Evaluate food products to maintain consistent quality standards
