Job Requirements

  • Education or equivalent experience in culinary management
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant kitchen management experience
  • Proficiency in food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work flexible, event-driven schedules including evenings and weekends
  • Valid food handler’s certification and alcohol service permit as applicable
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate diverse teams
  • Experience in budget management and cost control
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment maintenance and safety compliance

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years kitchen management experience in a full-service restaurant or events venue
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting projected food and labor costs
  • Professional appearance and presentation
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Maintains current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • Experience with employee scheduling in hospitality
  • Ability to obtain and maintain national sanitation certification
  • Technical knowledge of food preparation methods
  • Strong interpersonal skills including active listening and communication
  • Skilled in staff training, motivation, evaluation and counseling
  • Ability to delegate effectively and solve problems creatively
  • Strong decision-making, multi-tasking and prioritization capabilities
  • Self-directed and team-oriented
  • Flexible availability including nights and weekends

Job Duties

  • Manage, develop and mentor culinary staff including hiring and disciplining
  • Provide ongoing training and support to event staff
  • Ensure budgeted food percentages by controlling portions, kitchen timing, inventory and purchasing
  • Control labor costs through effective scheduling and cross-training
  • Oversee menu development and quality assurance
  • Supervise kitchen line setup, prep and breakdown
  • Coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance and catered service delivery
  • Arrange staff training and orientation
  • Maintain positive employee relations and effective communication
  • Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Manage kitchen records including food inventory and invoicing
  • Organize employee schedules and enforce uniform policies
  • Promote teamwork and lead by example
  • Oversee production of staff meals ensuring quality and timeliness
