Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years culinary management experience
  • Valid Food Handler's card
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to manage budgets and control food costs
  • Proficiency in scheduling and staff training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle kitchen demands

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years kitchen management experience in a full service restaurant or events venue
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting projected costs
  • Professional appearance and presentation
  • Knowledge of computer software including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • Working knowledge of employee scheduling in hospitality
  • Ability to obtain certification in nationally recognized sanitation program
  • Technical proficiency in food preparation methods
  • Effective communication and active listening skills
  • Ability to train, motivate and develop staff
  • Ability to distribute responsibility to meet objectives
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to multitask
  • Self-directed and team-oriented work ethic
  • Availability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends

Job Duties

  • Manage, develop and mentor staff of culinary employees including hiring, firing and disciplining
  • Ensure event staff understand workplace expectations and provide ongoing training and mentoring
  • Achieve budgeted food cost percentages through control measures such as portion control and inventory management
  • Control labor costs via effective scheduling, cross-training and monitoring
  • Maintain standards for purchasing and food preparation ensuring quality, consistency and recipe adherence
  • Supervise kitchen set-up, preparation and breakdown activities including delegation of tasks
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment to ensure operational readiness
