Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of kitchen management experience
  • Current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if applicable
  • Proficient with computer software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and flexible hours
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Certification or ability to obtain in food sanitation
  • Physical ability to handle kitchen duties
  • Professional presentation and demeanor
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years kitchen management experience in a full service restaurant or events venue
  • Demonstrated and verifiable track record of meeting projected costs
  • Professional appearance and presentation
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • Experience with employee scheduling in a hospitality environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in a nationally recognized sanitation program
  • Technical proficiency in food preparation methods
  • Strong interpersonal skills including active listening and effective communication
  • Proven ability to train, evaluate, motivate and coach staff
  • Ability to delegate responsibility and solve problems creatively
  • Detail-oriented with capacity to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Self-directed and team-oriented work approach
  • Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends and long hours

Job Duties

  • Manage, develop and mentor culinary staff including hiring, firing and disciplining
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching and mentorship to promote a positive and cooperative workplace
  • Implement and monitor food cost control measures such as portion control and inventory management
  • Schedule kitchen staff effectively to control labor costs and ensure adequate coverage
  • Oversee food preparation ensuring quality, consistency and adherence to recipes and safety standards
  • Supervise kitchen setup, prep and breakdown activities
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and sanitation regulations
  • Maintain kitchen equipment, coordinate repairs and ensure operational readiness
  • Organize employee work schedules and enforce venue uniform policies
  • Foster teamwork, positive employee relations and effective communication
  • Arrange staff training, orientation and professional development
  • Oversee production of staff meals ensuring timeliness and quality
