Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years kitchen management experience
  • Ability to manage and mentor a team
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Proficiency with MS Office software
  • Current Food Handler’s card
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to maintain professional presentation and appearance
  • Certification or willingness to obtain sanitation certification
  • Experience with food cost and labor cost control
  • Ability to conduct staff training and performance evaluations

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years kitchen management experience in a full service restaurant or events venue
  • Demonstrated and verifiable track record of meeting projected costs
  • Professional appearance and presentation
  • Knowledge of and skill in using computer software including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Maintains current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • Working knowledge of employee scheduling in hospitality
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in a nationally recognized sanitation program
  • Verifiable knowledge of food preparation methods
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train, motivate, and evaluate staff
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Flexibility to work variable schedules including nights and weekends

Job Duties

  • Manage and mentor culinary staff including hiring, firing, and disciplining
  • Provide training and ongoing support to event staff to promote a positive work environment
  • Control food costs through portion control, inventory management, and waste reduction
  • Schedule kitchen staff effectively to control labor costs and ensure compliance with break documentation
  • Develop menus and oversee food quality, consistency, and presentation standards
  • Supervise line set-up, preparation, and breakdown activities
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment and delivery of catered services
