Job Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years related kitchen management experience
- Valid Food Handler's Card
- Ability to work a flexible, event-driven schedule including nights and weekends
- Proficient with MS Office software
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups
- Must maintain professional presentation
- Ability to obtain necessary sanitation certifications
- Strong leadership and staff development skills
- Ability to manage budget and control food and labor costs
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years kitchen management experience in a full service restaurant or events venue
- Demonstrated track record of meeting projected food cost goals
- Professional appearance and presentation
- Proficiency with computer software including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Current Food Handler's Card and alcohol service permit if required
- Experience with employee scheduling in hospitality
- Certification or ability to obtain certification in nationally recognized sanitation program
- Strong knowledge of food preparation methods
- Ability to interact positively with diverse personalities
- Effective communication and active listening skills
- Ability to develop staff through training, evaluation, motivation, and coaching
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a changing environment
- Self-directed with team-oriented mindset
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends and long hours
Job Duties
- Manage, develop, and mentor culinary staff including hiring, firing, and disciplining
- Ensure event staff are aware of workplace expectations and provide ongoing assistance, training, and mentoring
- Control budgeted food percentages through portion control, inventory rotation, purchasing procedures, and waste control
- Control labor costs through effective scheduling, cross-training, and monitoring breaks
- Ensure food purchasing and preparation meet quality and consistency standards
- Supervise line setup, prep, and breakdown activities and delegate tasks
- Coordinate storage, maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment
