Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years kitchen management experience
  • professional appearance
  • current Food Handler's card
  • experience with employee scheduling in hospitality
  • ability to obtain sanitation certification
  • proficiency in food preparation methods
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to train and motivate staff
  • problem-solving skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years kitchen management experience in full-service events venue
  • verifiable track record of meeting projected costs
  • professional appearance and presentation
  • working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • knowledge of employee scheduling in hospitality
  • ability to obtain nationally recognized sanitation certification
  • technical proficiency in food preparation methods
  • strong interpersonal, communication and active listening skills
  • ability to train, evaluate and motivate staff
  • problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • ability to manage multiple priorities in changing environment
  • flexible scheduling availability including nights and weekends

Job Duties

  • Manage, develop and mentor culinary staff
  • initiate employment actions such as hiring and firing
  • provide ongoing training and mentoring
  • achieve budgeted food percentages through cost control
  • schedule and cross-train kitchen staff
  • develop menus ensuring quality and consistency
  • oversee food preparation and presentation standards
  • supervise line set-up, prep and breakdown
  • coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance
  • manage catered services and food service setups
  • lead kitchen staff training and orientation
  • foster positive employee relations
  • ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • maintain kitchen records and inventories
  • organize employee work schedules
  • promote teamwork and effective communication
  • manage production of staff meals
