Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years kitchen management experience
  • Professional appearance and presentation
  • Valid Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • Ability to obtain certification in nationally recognized sanitation program
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with employee scheduling in hospitality
  • Effective communication and active listening skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and flexible hours
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Detail-oriented and multitasking skills

Job Qualifications

  • Certification in a nationally recognized sanitation program or ability to obtain it
  • Technical knowledge of food preparation methods

  • Ability to train, motivate, and evaluate staff

Job Duties

  • Manage, develop and mentor culinary staff including employment actions such as hiring and disciplining
  • Ensure event staff understand workplace expectations and provide ongoing mentoring
  • Achieve budgeted food costs through control measures including portion control and inventory management
  • Control labor costs through scheduling and cross-training
  • Maintain quality and consistency of food purchasing and preparation
  • Develop menus ensuring quality and adherence to concept
  • Monitor food production to meet recipe specifications and quality standards
  • Supervise kitchen line setup, prep, and breakdown activities
  • Delegate tasks effectively during service
  • Coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance and repair
  • Arrange delivery and setup of catered services
  • Manage kitchen staff training and orientation
  • Provide leadership to build morale and promote a positive work environment
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and employment regulations
  • Keep kitchen records and handle food inventories and invoicing
  • Organize staff schedules ensuring coverage and compliance with uniform policies
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and problem-solving
  • Oversee production of staff meals ensuring timeliness and quality
