Job Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of relevant kitchen management experience
  • Proficient in food safety and sanitation knowledge
  • Ability to manage and lead a culinary team
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must maintain a Food Handler's card and any required alcohol permits
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Capability to maintain a positive work environment

  • Ability to use computer systems for scheduling and inventory management

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years kitchen management experience in a full-service restaurant or events venue
  • Demonstrated and verifiable track record of meeting projected costs
  • Professional appearance and presentation
  • Proficient in computer software including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • Knowledge of employee scheduling in hospitality
  • Certification or ability to obtain certification in a nationally recognized sanitation program
  • Technical proficiency in food preparation methods
  • Effective interpersonal skills with diverse personalities
  • Active listening and communication skills
  • Ability to train, motivate, evaluate and counsel staff
  • Ability to assist in skill development
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively

Job Duties

  • Manage, develop and mentor a staff of 35 full-time and part-time culinary employees including hiring, firing, and disciplining
  • Ensure event staff understand workplace expectations and provide ongoing training and mentoring
  • Control food costs through portion controls, kitchen timings, food inventory rotation, purchasing procedures, and waste control
  • Manage labor costs via effective scheduling, cross-training, and monitoring breaks
  • Ensure purchasing and preparation meet Oak View Group's quality standards
  • Develop menus maintaining quality, consistency and concept style
  • Monitor food preparation meeting recipe specifications, portion control, and timing
  • Oversee food appearance, temperature, sanitary and quality standards
  • Supervise line set-up, prep and breakdown activities
  • Assign tasks to line personnel
  • Coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance and repair
  • Manage delivery and set-up of catered services
  • Organize kitchen staff training and orientation
  • Provide leadership and support building staff morale
  • Maintain positive and compliant employee relations
  • Handle staffing, training, evaluation, and counseling
  • Promote communication and teamwork among staff
  • Interact positively with front-of-house staff
  • Quickly resolve problems
  • Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, safety, and employment regulations
  • Maintain proper kitchen record keeping including food inventories and invoicing
  • Organize employee work schedules ensuring coverage and uniform compliance
  • Lead by example to ensure quality management of product, service and concept
  • Oversee production of staff meals ensuring they are on time and healthy
