Job Requirements

  • education equivalent to high school diploma or higher
  • prior experience managing culinary teams
  • active Food Handler's card and relevant permits
  • strong computer skills including MS Office
  • valid sanitation certification or ability to obtain
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • physical ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • proven leadership and staff development experience
  • ability to comply with all health and safety regulations
  • capable of managing food costs and labor efficiently

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of 2-3 years kitchen management experience in full service restaurant or events venue, demonstrated ability to meet cost projections, professional appearance and presentation, proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, current Food Handler's card and alcohol permit if required, knowledge of employee scheduling in hospitality, certification in sanitation program, thorough knowledge of food preparation methods, effective communication and listening skills, ability to develop and motivate staff, problem-solving skills, decision-making ability, detail-oriented with multitasking skills, ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends

Job Duties

  • manage, develop and mentor culinary staff, initiate employment actions including hiring and firing, provide ongoing training and mentoring to event staff, control food costs through portion and inventory management, supervise kitchen safety and sanitation compliance, develop and maintain quality menus, oversee food preparation and production, ensure food appearance and quality standards, manage kitchen equipment maintenance and repairs, coordinate catering services and food setups, lead staff training and orientation, foster positive employee relations, schedule staff and approve breaks, promote teamwork and effective communication, oversee production of staff meals
