Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of relevant kitchen management experience
  • Current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if applicable
  • Ability to obtain and maintain sanitation certification
  • Proficiency in hospitality employee scheduling
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a large culinary team
  • Flexibility to work variable event-driven schedules including evenings and weekends
  • Professional presentation and demeanor
  • Effective communication and active listening skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Self-directed with strong decision-making skills

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of kitchen management experience in a full-service events venue
  • Demonstrated ability to meet projected food and labor costs
  • Professional appearance and presentation
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required
  • Knowledge of employee scheduling in hospitality
  • Certification or ability to obtain certification in a nationally recognized sanitation program
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation methods
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and motivate staff through training and counseling
  • Skilled in problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends, and extended hours

Job Duties

  • Manage, develop and mentor a culinary team of 35 full-time and part-time employees including hiring, firing, and disciplining
  • Ensure event staff understand workplace expectations through training and hands-on mentorship
  • Achieve budgeted food cost percentages via portion control, inventory management, purchasing, and waste reduction
  • Control labor costs by effective staff scheduling, cross-training, and monitoring breaks
  • Oversee food purchasing and preparation to meet company standards of quality and consistency
  • Develop menus that maintain quality, consistency, and brand style
  • Monitor food preparation to ensure compliance with recipes, portion sizes, and kitchen timings
  • Supervise food appearance, temperature, sanitation and quality
  • Coordinate kitchen equipment maintenance and repair
  • Manage delivery and setup of catered services
  • Implement staff skills training and orientation programs
  • Foster a positive, compliant employee relations environment
  • Staff scheduling, training, evaluation, and counseling
  • Promote communication and teamwork among kitchen and front of house staff
  • Enforce compliance with health, sanitation, safety, and employment regulations
  • Maintain accurate kitchen records and administrative documentation
  • Lead by example and provide constructive feedback to staff
  • Oversee production of nutritious staff meals as per schedule
