Job Requirements

  • Associate of science degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • Hands-on chef experience is a must
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation protocols
  • Experience with Microsoft Office computer applications
  • Ability to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs
  • Strong team-building and employee coaching abilities
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety

Job Qualifications

  • Associate of science degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • Extensive catering experience preferred
  • Experience in high volume and complex foodservice operations
  • Hands-on chef experience required
  • Knowledge of food and catering trends with focus on quality, sanitation, food cost controls and presentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, email and internet usage
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • ServSafe certification highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Lead daily culinary production including meal preparation, food quality, presentation, safety, sanitation, team productivity, cost control and profitability
  • Determine food presentation and create decorative displays
  • Provide direction on menu development based on product availability and seasonal ingredients
  • Source fresh food and monitor produce and meat for freshness
  • Maintain product consistency through inspections of seasonings, portions, and appearance
  • Research customer preferences and incorporate local foods and flavors into the menu
  • Prepare and cook foods regularly and for special functions
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
  • Supervise and coordinate cooks and food preparation workers
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Provide guidance to subordinates including setting and monitoring performance standards
  • Communicate and enforce safety procedures and monitor related processes
  • Monitor quality of raw and cooked food products
  • Enforce food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain purchasing, receiving and food storage standards
  • Participate in business strategy development aligned with community mission
  • Manage department expenses including food cost, supplies, uniforms and equipment
  • Implement purchasing and receiving guidelines and controls
  • Analyze financial and operational information to adjust plans and costs
  • Develop and manage department budget including labor and food cost control
  • Identify major revenue and expense opportunities and problems
  • Oversee food inventory and purchasing controls
  • Schedule staff based on forecasted volumes
  • Train team members and provide resources to maximize engagement and service
  • Maintain professional attitude and appearance while engaging with residents and staff
  • Improve service through feedback and coaching
  • Empower employees for excellent customer service and provide ongoing training
  • Promote genuine hospitality and teamwork
  • Use teamwork to support guests and employees
  • Seek resident feedback and develop improvement strategies
  • Review resident satisfaction results and respond to guest problems and complaints
  • Lead regular team meetings
  • Establish performance, budget and team goals
  • Solicit employee feedback and maintain an open door policy
  • Develop strategies to support team member engagement
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees
