Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • Hands-on chef experience required
  • Knowledge of food and catering trends including quality, sanitation, and cost controls
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software
  • Ability to participate in client satisfaction activities
  • ServSafe certification highly desirable

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
  • Extensive catering experience preferred
  • High volume, complex foodservice operations experience preferred
  • Institutional and batch cooking experience
  • Hands-on chef experience required
  • Strong knowledge of food trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Outlook, email, and internet
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Lead daily culinary production in meal preparation and presentation
  • Determine food presentation and create decorative displays
  • Provide direction on menu development and create seasonal specials
  • Source fresh food and monitor produce and meat for freshness
  • Maintain product consistency through inspections of seasoning, portions, and appearance
  • Research customer preferences for menu development
  • Prepare and cook foods regularly and for special functions
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
  • Supervise and coordinate cooks and kitchen workers
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Set performance standards and monitor team member performance
  • Communicate and enforce safety procedures
  • Monitor quality of raw and cooked food
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards
  • Develop and manage department budget including food and labor cost controls
  • Analyze financial data to adjust operating plans
  • Oversee food inventory, purchasing, and control
  • Schedule staff based on forecasted volumes
  • Train and empower team members for exceptional customer service
  • Address customer complaints and improve service quality
  • Conduct team meetings and set goals
  • Solicit employee feedback and foster engagement
  • Provide coaching and counseling to team members to achieve performance objectives
