Job Requirements

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience
  • Serv Safe Certified is a must
  • Extensive understanding of professional kitchen use
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of kitchen staff effectively
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Fundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness and personal hygiene
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced high volume environment
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and time management skills
  • Requires moderate physical efforts including standing, carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling and pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Working conditions involve noise, heat, temperature changes, kitchen elements, odors, moisture
  • May be required to work additional hours depending on workload and staffing

Job Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of professional culinary experience
  • Serv Safe Certified
  • Extensive understanding of professional kitchen operations
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct kitchen staff activities
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Strong knowledge of sanitation, cleanliness, and hygiene
  • Proven ability to work well in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and excellent multitasking skills
  • Time management skills
  • Leadership and team management experience

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the preparation and service of various foods including pantry items, salads, soups, and sauces
  • Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise culinary activities
  • Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
  • Select and develop recipes
  • Standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
  • Establish presentation techniques and quality standards
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Oversee special catering events and offer culinary instruction or demonstrations
  • Handle food in compliance with health department guidelines
  • Ensure proper safety and sanitation in the kitchen
  • Maintain personal hygiene standards
  • Comply with dress code
  • Ensure safety regulations and report injuries
  • Use and maintain kitchen equipment properly
  • Supervise kitchen staff with responsibilities including hiring, discipline, performance reviews, and pay increases
  • Attend in-service training and perform additional responsibilities as assigned by General Manager
