Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

- Associates or Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or related field
- experience managing in a unionized environment
- knowledge of Kronos or similar timekeeping software
- knowledge of FoodPro Menu Management system
- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- operational experience with industrial kitchen equipment
- experience with food service applications and computerized menu management
- passion for food and knowledge of current food trends
- strong business acumen including financial and human resource management
- demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service
- excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Job Duties
- Manages all aspects of medium scale food production and special events preparation
- ensures high standards by implementing HUDS and University food, sanitation, equipment, facility, and safety policies
- coordinates, plans, and supervises production, plating, and presentation of food for catered events meeting customer expectations
- collaborates with Director of Culinary to develop seasonal menus and food concepts for review
- implements and monitors FoodPro menu and inventory management system ensuring cost control, loss prevention, and weekly inventory audits
- maintains professional relationships with University personnel, students, and stakeholders
- ensures operational kitchen equipment and submits repair requests as needed
- manages unit-specific sustainability goals and programs
- maintains sanitation standards compliant with laws and policies
- completes accurate EH&S logs
- complies with Food Employee Illness Policy
- maintains cleanliness of back of house areas as per HUDS standards
- performs hands-on chef duties
- assists in annual operational budget development and management including food and labor cost goals
- submits and audits invoices and P-Card documentation
- completes required financial and record-keeping reports
- encourages cost reduction initiatives
- provides leadership and direction to exempt and unionized non-exempt workforce
- fosters positive and collaborative working environment
- maintains communication and visibility with staff
- manages employee relations with Union Shop Stewards
- conducts interviews and hires staff per budget
- completes probationary and annual performance evaluations
- sets performance expectations with coaching and mentoring
- implements corrective actions in consultation with Human Resources
- ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements and personnel policies
