Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a culinary or food service leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, senior living environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with computerized inventory and ordering systems
- Ability to manage budgets and control costs
- Flexible availability including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Experience in the hospitality or health service food service industry
- Knowledge of international and domestic cuisines
- Proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Knowledge of menu writing, costing and wage control
- Practical and theoretical background in all kitchen operations
- Effective leadership style with a positive outgoing personality and strong listening skills
Job Duties
- Set a superior standard for the provision of a high-quality dining experience
- Launch company-standard menus in an efficient and timely manner
- Cater special events as needed
- Ensure meal and event presentations are consistent, prompt and appetizing
- Plan and purchase all food items necessary to prepare meals according to the current menu
- Effectively, dynamically and professionally lead a kitchen staff by inspiring their confidence and motivating them to consistently perform their duties according to the highest standards
- Support the dining team in a professional manner, providing an environment for employees where they consistently feel valued and respected
- Make sure all back of house personnel are properly trained
- Assure consistent coverage of shifts as needed
- Adhere to food sanitation and storage policies and procedures
- Assure adherence to food, supply and labor budgets
- Uphold and model company values by doing the right thing
