Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or related field preferred
  • minimum of 3 years' experience in culinary leadership roles
  • must obtain Serve Safe certification within 90 days of employment
  • demonstrated knowledge of food safety standards and health regulations
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • physical stamina to meet job demands including lifting and standing for long durations
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • passion for senior nutrition and culinary creativity
  • proficiency in basic computer applications including Microsoft Office
  • commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
  • capability to manage budgets and inventories

Job Qualifications

  • Degree in Culinary Arts preferred
  • 3 to 5 years' experience leading a fine dining kitchen
  • Serve Safe certification or must obtain within 90 days of hire
  • basic knowledge of food preparation procedures and dining room etiquette
  • familiarity with health department regulations related to food service
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • self-motivated with ability to work independently
  • results oriented with a customer service focus
  • proven team player
  • physical ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • capable of working in hot and humid environments
  • excellent palate and ability to determine food quality through taste and smell

Job Duties

  • Craft menus that are fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor designed specifically for independent living seniors
  • lead a passionate culinary team with professionalism and enthusiasm
  • ensure compliance with federal, state, and local sanitation regulations
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen and work areas
  • conduct routine safety and sanitation inspections and report findings to management
  • develop and maintain food service quality standards and objectives
  • manage food and supply expenses to budget or forecast by placing orders through authorized vendors
  • prepare monthly food service reports and maintain daily logs of food safety temperatures
  • recruit, orientate, train, and evaluate culinary services staff
  • support community sales efforts with catering services for marketing events and private resident affairs
  • maintain emergency food and drinking water supplies according to regulations
  • promote the community in a positive manner to residents, visitors, and staff
  • perform other duties as necessary to support culinary operations
