Job Requirements
- Education in culinary arts or equivalent experience
- minimum three years of managerial culinary experience
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- strong leadership and communication skills
- food safety certification within 30 days of employment
- proficiency in kitchen management and inventory control
- willingness to work flexible hours
- commitment to high standards and quality control
Job Qualifications
- Three years' culinary experience as a manager or sous chef in a multi-unit hotel or conference center
- experience with classic Italian cuisine preferred
- culinary internship, apprenticeship or degree preferred
- strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- knowledge of culinary software such as ChefTech desirable
- manager food safety certification required within 30 days of starting position
Job Duties
- Recruit, interview, train, coach, discipline and conduct performance appraisals for direct reports
- create schedules and approve employee time, time off and shift changes
- assign, train, support and direct staff to execute operational roles efficiently while maintaining property policies and standards
- coach, develop and provide feedback to staff for career advancement
- research, create and execute new seasonal menu items
- oversee kitchen sanitation and address concerns
- manage kitchen inventory, procurement, and maintain par levels
- collaborate with restaurant manager to resolve food quality or selection issues
- manage financials related to labor, food costs and kitchen expenses
