Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five years supervisory experience in food service
- Experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living food service preferred
- Ability to write reports and correspondence
- Competency in mathematical concepts for budgeting
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to ensure compliance with regulations
- Effective staff management and training abilities
- Commitment to professional appearance and confidentiality
- Ability to promote safe food handling practices.
Job Qualifications
- Five years supervisory experience
- Food service experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living preferred
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Ability to develop, monitor, and adjust budgets
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Job Duties
- Performs all responsibilities in a manner consistent with the community's operating and service philosophy
- Maintains a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
- Monitors key measurable indicators of daily operations routinely
- Implements established policies, procedures, and standards of performance
- Helps develop and deliver in-service and ongoing training to staff
- Participates in departmental and community meetings and projects
- Maintains confidentiality and ensures ongoing compliance with regulatory standards
- Plans, directs, and administers food service department activities ensuring quality food service
- Controls costs and manages the department budget
- Implements policies regarding menu formulation, food preparation, purchasing, sanitation, and safety
- Selects, orients, coaches kitchen staff, and develops departmental educational programs
- Schedules kitchen personnel for optimal quality service and profitability
- Ensures maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment
- Monitors food purchasing and inventory
- Coordinates interdepartmental activities and serves as a consultant on food service matters
- Supervises food preparation and service workers
- Consults with healthcare personnel on residents' nutritional needs and diet restrictions
- Formulates menus tailored to special dietary requirements
- Inspects meals for compliance with prescribed diets and standards
- Ensures menus and procedures conform to nutritional standards and regulations
- Works with Executive Director to ensure resident satisfaction and quality
- Establishes and monitors kitchen staffing schedules
- Responds to special needs of residents
- Emphasizes safe food handling practices
- Collaborates with Dining Room Manager and corporate Food & Beverage team to ensure service standards
- Promotes Genuine Hospitality Program.
