Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of five years supervisory experience in food service
- experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living industry preferred
- strong written communication skills
- proficiency in mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- budgeting and financial management skills
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- ability to work collaboratively with healthcare and management teams
- excellent organizational and leadership abilities
Job Qualifications
- Five years supervisory experience
- food service experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living industry preferred
- ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- ability to develop, monitor, and adjust a budget
Job Duties
- Performs all responsibilities in a manner consistent with the community's operating and service philosophy
- maintains a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
- monitors key measurable indicators of daily operations on a routine and ongoing basis
- implements established policies, procedures, and standards of performance
- helps develop in-service training and ongoing training of staff to provide high quality service
- participates in departmental and community meetings and projects as directed by Executive Director
- maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality
- attains and/or maintains compliance with local, state, federal, and regulatory standards
- prepares the program for inspection by regulatory agencies through regular auditing and updating of policies and procedures
- administers, plans, and directs food service department activities providing quality food service
- controls costs and manages food service department budget
- implements policies and procedures for menu formulation, food preparation and service, purchasing, sanitation standards, safety practices, and personal utilization
- selects, orients, and coaches kitchen staff and develops departmental educational programs
- schedules kitchen personnel to optimize service quality and profitability
- ensures proper maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment
- monitors, evaluates, and maintains food purchasing and inventory
- coordinates interdepartmental professional activities and serves as a consultant to management on food service matters
- supervises food preparation and service activities
- consults with physicians, health care personnel, and dietary specialists on nutritional needs and diet restrictions
- formulates special diet menus based on medical and physical conditions of residents
- inspects meals for diet conformance and quality standards
- consults with Executive Director to ensure menus and procedures meet nutritional standards and regulations
- emphasizes safe food handling practices
- works closely with Dining Room Manager and corporate Food & Beverage team to ensure SRG standards are met
- promotes and supports Genuine Hospitality Program
