Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • five years supervisory experience
  • experience in food service industry, preferably in hospitality, country club, or senior living
  • ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • strong numerical skills including understanding of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
  • budget management skills
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to lead and train staff
  • excellent communication skills

Job Duties

  • perform all responsibilities consistent with community operating and service philosophy
  • maintain a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
  • monitor key measurable indicators of daily operations
  • implement established policies and procedures and standards of performance
  • develop and provide ongoing training of staff
  • participate in departmental and community meetings and projects
  • maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality
  • ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards through auditing and policy updates
  • administer and direct food service department activities
  • control costs and manage food service department budget
  • implement policies for menu formulation, food preparation, purchasing, sanitation, safety, and personnel
  • select, orient, and coach kitchen staff
  • schedule kitchen personnel to optimize quality service and profitability
  • ensure maintenance and cleanliness of equipment
  • monitor and maintain food purchasing and inventory
  • coordinate interdepartmental activities and consult management on food service matters
  • supervise food preparation and service workers
  • consult with healthcare personnel on nutritional needs and diet restrictions
  • formulate menus for special diets
  • inspect meals for compliance with prescribed diets and standards
  • consult with executive director to ensure compliance with nutritional standards and regulations
  • establish kitchen staffing schedule
  • respond to special needs of residents
  • emphasize safe food handling practices
  • collaborate with dining room manager and corporate F&B team to ensure service standards
  • promote and support Genuine Hospitality Program
