Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five years of supervisory experience in food service
- Experience in senior living, hospitality, or related industry preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Knowledge of food service operations and management
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare personnel
- Understanding of nutritional requirements for seniors
- Competence in budgeting and cost control
- Commitment to safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Willingness to participate in ongoing staff training
- Availability to work regular daytime shifts
- Compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Job Qualifications
- Five years supervisory experience
- Food service experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living preferred
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Ability to develop, monitor, and adjust a budget
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Experience in menu planning and dietary management
- Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements
- Proficiency in staff training and development
- Capable of fostering a positive team environment.
Job Duties
- Perform all responsibilities consistent with the community's operating and service philosophy
- Maintain a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
- Monitor key measurable indicators of daily operations routinely
- Implement established policies, procedures, and performance standards
- Develop and provide ongoing in-service training for staff
- Participate in departmental and community meetings as directed by Executive Director
- Maintain confidentiality as appropriate
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, regulatory, and accrediting standards
- Plan and direct activities of the food service department
- Control costs and manage the food service budget
- Administer menu formulation, food preparation, purchasing, sanitation, safety, and personnel utilization policies
- Select, orient, and coach kitchen staff
- Schedule kitchen personnel for optimized quality and profitability
- Maintain proper equipment cleanliness and function
- Monitor food purchasing and inventory
- Coordinate interdepartmental professional activities and consult management
- Supervise food preparation and service workers
- Consult with healthcare professionals to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions
- Formulate menus for special diets based on resident conditions
- Inspect meals for diet conformity and quality
- Consult with Executive Director to ensure nutritional and regulatory compliance
- Ensure resident satisfaction and quality standards
- Establish and monitor kitchen staffing schedules
- Respond to resident special needs
- Emphasize safe food handling practices
- Collaborate with Dining Room Manager and corporate teams to ensure SRG standards
- Promote and support Genuine Hospitality Program.
