Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • five to seven years of commercial cooking experience
  • at least two years in a management role
  • culinary school apprenticeship or equivalent certification preferred
  • ability to work onsite at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
  • flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as business requires
  • strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations including HACCP
  • ability to manage budgets and control costs
  • experience in a unionized work environment preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Five to seven years of commercial cooking experience
  • minimum of two years in a management role
  • culinary school apprenticeship or certification preferred
  • additional certifications such as diet chef or industrial chef preferred
  • strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations including HACCP
  • solid financial acumen
  • experience working in a union environment highly preferred

Job Duties

  • Oversees all food production activities in the Customer Support Center
  • responsible for deviations in inventories and initiates countermeasures
  • controls and adjusts production plans and estimates consumption of food and equipment
  • ensures compliance with recipe specifications and conducts quality checks
  • participates in food product and menu development
  • updates and distributes catering manuals
  • manages cost control of budgets, personnel, and material costs
  • participates in menu presentations
  • coordinates and controls countermeasures regarding customer complaints
  • checks service schedules and assesses economic profitability
  • establishes training strategies and training plans for kitchen staff
  • represents kitchen and kitchen staff externally
  • stays updated on industry trends and ensures alignment with design chefs
  • ensures appropriate production technology is in place
  • participates in marketing activities
  • ensures quality of received goods
  • guarantees tidiness in food storage and adherence to first in - first out principle
  • guarantees adherence to hygiene, health, safety standards and HACCP regulations
  • organizes, staffs, and directs the area of responsibility
  • guides, motivates and develops subordinate employees
  • implements company values and management principles
  • controls cost budgets and initiates corrective actions
  • supports initiatives like Global Quality Standard, HACCP, Lean Manufacturing
